Text Box: Our off-ice activities are what really set us apart. We believe that the ‘summer’ should stay in summer hockey school. That is part of the reason we utilize the breathtaking outdoors that Whistler offers. There is a fantastic sports field behind the arena that we take full advantage of, paved trails to rollerblade and a beautiful glacier fed lake to canoe and kayak.

· This is a day school (overnight lodging is not provided)

· Cost: $449.95 + GST (includes jersey).

· The participants are divided up into groups of 10 according to age/ability and existing friendships—when appropriate. Each group has a Group Leader that will be with the set group throughout the day.

· The start times are staggered between 7:30 - 11:00am and end times between 3:30 - 7:30 pm. Generally the youngest groups start and end first and the oldest are the last to start and finish (some exceptions). A typical day is 7-8 hours long. Final schedules are provided closer to camp time.

· We have exceptional Group Leaders, some of whom started with the school as participants.  The name of game is fun here in Whistler, and that is what our leaders focus on during our off-ice activities.  The leaders stay with ‘their’ group throughout the day and have plenty of time to build great relationships with their charges.  Many of our Group Leaders are Junior hockey players and have summer hockey school students coming out to cheer them on during their season!

· Our on-ice program consists of developing individual skills with drills, scrimmages,  and games that are both fun and challenging.

· Approx. 2 hours 15 minutes of ice time per day and up to three 3 hours for the older groups. Each participant will have two ice sessions daily. We have a ratio of 7 participants to 1 instructor on the ice. All aspects of skating, passing, shooting, positioning and many other skills will be covered on the ice. Programs are developed according to the age and skill level of each group.

· Body checking is an important part of the game and we spend a good amount teaching the correct and safe method of body checking.  Pee Wee aged players (’97 and ’96) and older will receive this instruction.  Safety is paramount and our instructors are well qualified to teach this skill.  If your son or daughter will not be playing full contact hockey in the future they can let their instructor know and can work on other skills.

· An optional lunch program is provided by Boston Pizza. This hot lunch program is set up with a kid friendly menu. About the mid point of each day, your child’s meal is brought directly to the rink from Boston Pizza. On camp registration day, Boston Pizza will have a table set up in the lobby of Meadow Park Arena to take your registration.  $45.00 + GST payable to BP on registration day.  If you do not wish to register for the  lunch program please bring a packed lunch each day.

· Please note we are a peanut free camp, so please do not send any peanuts or products that may contain peanuts.
